First job of the day, was to remove all the luggage, then remove the seat, so that I could get to the tracker unit. I then removed the SIMM card and put some WD40 on the connection, re-assembled and put the luggage back on.
I was looking forward to the solo ride today, and the first stop of the day, was the Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach. Apart from the obvious, (the sand being black, well actually dark grey), there are some interesting rock formations here.
The pillars are formed when the lava is cooling causing these stone pillars that look as though they were individually put there. They range in sizes and even the tiny ones are solid, you can’t separate them. It is amazing what nature can do.
Apparently, it is also one of the filming locations of the TV series, ‘Game of Thrones’. But I have never seen a single episode of that, so not really interested.
Great place for photos though!
The next stop ,just a short way further round the coast at Vik, was Víkurfjara Black Sand Beach. Yes more dark grey sand and more photos!
Did you know, that between here, (Vik) and Antarica, there is no land mass!
I went go the same cafe in Vik that we stopped at with the group and had a decent chicken pasta meal as I am most likely going to be camping tonight, so at least I won’t have to bother sorting food out tonight.
Although the campsite was only another 73km from Vik, I struggled to keep awake.
Good news is that the tracker appears to be working again!
It is approximately 470 kilometres to the ferry port, and that might not seem a lot to do in three days, but I reckon it is going to be tough for me now that my fatigue issues have kicked in.
However, at least I will have two days of rest at sea on the ferry until I get back into Denmark.
This is a large campsite, and lots of people staying. It is just gone 9pm, surely it must be time for the kids to go to bed and the adults to stop talking so loud. Some of us are trying to sleep!
