Day 26

Updated: Jul 20

Well after approximately 10 hours of rest, I felt much more alert this morning. I then hear on the grapevine, that today is a make your own way, so with that I skipped breakfast and hit the road.

With the aim of the day just to head south, I didn’t really think I could get it wrong, but I did, and headed north for two kilometres! It was because I hadn’t set any destination in the sat nav, and instead went I off my own intuition. Shan’t do that again, but then I have probably said that before.

Once I was heading south, which I did double and triple check, I started to relax and stopped for photos. However, this was eating up the time so after a while, I just pinned the throttle back and enjoyed the fast pace for a change.

One of my early photo stops was at a waterfall which was only just visible from the main road, and I did have to negotiate some rocky terrain to get my bike in a suitable position. For a photo. However, when it came to getting the bike out of there, I nearly dropped it whilst walking along side of it negotiating it around some tiny purple flowers that I had noticed I had parked next to.

Lots of summer ice!

When I reached the accommodation for the evening, I had covered 288 miles in 7.25 hours. I must admit, the last two hours were a struggle. I think that these days, five hours is about he most I can realistically ride in a day, anything more is just pushing my luck.
