Well, this is my last day on Grimsey Island, with the ferry departing at 4pm, oh joy, I cannot wait!
It is again, yet another nice dry day with sunshine, warm temperature and so far, a calm sea!
My first job of the day was to get the soft luggage fitted back onto the bike, so that I could get my things packed up and vacate my room.
Once that was done, I went for a short ride up to the airport where there was a sign post which had signs on of various cities and the distance too them.
Whilst there, I saw the plane take off and thought, now that is a better way to get here if you don’t have a vehicle. However, I was told that the plane can get cancelled due to bad weather, yet the ferry will often still go.
Then, back on the bike for another short ride to the lighthouse using a different route, (in fact, the only other way) than I did the first day.
Once there, I took more photos of the lighthouse and my bike, but it wasn’t long before the puffins stole my attention, and once again, I spent a long time, gradually creeping closer and taking more photos of them.
Nice calm sea leaving Grimsey Island…
… and it remained calm all the way back to Dalvík.
The journey back on the ferry was quite enjoyable and I never felt ill at any point. The only issue I had was keeping my eyes open as I reckon a side effect of the travel sickness tablets (which I probably took more than I should have) must have been that they make you drowsy!
